Essex Cinemas 8 opened in October 2001 as the first Stadium Theater in Vermont. Our Theater 1 boasted the largest screen in Vermont until our renovation and expansion in November 2010. Our renovation included a complete upgrade of the complex and allowed us to become the first 100% digital Theater in Vermont. As part of the renovation, our Theater 1 screen was curved and grew it's screen size by 50%.

The expansion allowed for two additional auditoriums including T-REX and Take 2 club. T-REX (Theater Real Extreme) is a trademarked experience unlike anything in Vermont. T-REX is the largest theater in Vermont and has more than 5 times the power of conventional theaters. The result is a clear clean sound that can shock and be sublime. T-REX sound was custom designed and built by Premium Performance Sound of Kansas City, a leader in Cinema sound. The 60 foot curved screen features the latest in Christie digital projection technology and in June of 2011 became the only "approved" RealD mega theater in Vermont, that uses over 7 lumins of light to deliver the cleanest and brightest picture available. T-REX belongs to a select group of national Theaters that are approved for this delivery and we are confident that once you go to T-REX, no other Theater in Vermont will compare to the experience. We are the only RealD Theater in Vermont, so you can be sure of seeing the best in 3D technology that utilizes disposable eyeware which is recylcled and never reused. So, don't worry about whether those glasses have been cleaned, our eyeware is always new! T-REX.. a monster experience!

Take 2 club features a beautifully designed "private" auditorium that can be rented for functions. Our full kitchen is staffed by Culinary experts who produce a simple yet elegant menu of tastes which are complimented by a full wine and beer bar. You can reserve the experience for your own event and we can cater to your culinary wishes or join us in general admission to films and sporting events on the "big screen."
